VIRTUAL HEALTHCARE DENTAL ASSISTING

Virtual Healthcare – Dental Assistant is the first health science simulation in the Virtual Healthcare series from Knowledge Matters. In Dental Assisting Skills and Procedures, students apply the concepts they learn in class to an experiential learning journey on their way to becoming a dental assistant. In a low-stakes virtual setting, students gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to provide quality care and strive for high patient satisfaction.

Within the simulation, students focus on learning the necessary skills and steps involved with each common dental procedure. They also enhance their ability to communicate effectively, understand their scope of practice, manage infection control, handle emergencies, chart, and manage patient notes using the CPIF tool (Clinical Patient Interaction Form).

In this simulation students gain a better understanding of how to fulfill typical dental assisting expectations, including triage and juggling various duties like office prep, admin, and scheduling. Concepts are taught and scaffolded during lessons and students work independently during “Goal Steps” at the end of each lesson.

Virtual Healthcare takes students out of the abstract and into the reality of a dental office.
